Panama receives a new batch of 21,600 doses of the bivalent vaccine

A new batch of 21,600 doses of bivalent vaccines for adults arrived in the country this Tuesday, March 28, the Ministry of Health (Minsa) reported, indicating that these will be applied through the Expanded Immunization Program (PAI) from the age of 12 in forward.

“With this new batch, we have received 169,200 doses and it should be noted that it has been satisfactorily accepted in the adult population,” said the head of the PAI, Itzel de Hewitt.

Hewitt called on parents to reinforce their children from 5 to 11 years of age with the pediatric bivalent vaccine.

He explained that the new batch of doses with the bivalent vaccine will be distributed equitably according to the population denominator, to all regions of the country.

“Equally, public and private hospitals will have it,” he added.

This new group of bivalent vaccines will reinforce and increase the percentage of people with the bivalent and vaccination doses, highlighted Itzel de Hewitt, coordinator of the EPI.

At the last weekly cut, a total of 8 million 862 thousand 649 doses have been applied and 123 thousand 971 doses of the bivalent vaccine have been inoculated throughout the country to people over 12 years of age and 1,719 doses to children from 5 to 11 years of age. .

The Ministry of Health reiterated to the population that vaccines save lives, are free, and are applied at authorized points in health centers, police centers, and health subcenters throughout the country.
