Panama does not present any case of Guillain-Barré Syndrome that currently affects South American countries

The adviser to the Ministry of Health (MINSA), Dr. Alfredo Moltó, indicated that Panama is free of cases of Guillain-Barré Syndrome, but they are monitoring what is happening in South America where Peru and Ecuador have declared a health alert due to this disease.

“We, who have done this in Panama, send a circular to all the health facilities in the country, both public and private, where we give them the information that this is happening in Peru and intensify the search for cadres that could be susceptible, febrile cases, cases with neuropathies or affectations of the peripheral nerves”, indicated Moltó.

Guillain-Barré syndrome is a disorder that affects the nerves that control the mobility of the arms and legs. It is not spread from person to person, but the unusual increase in cases that have been reported has drawn the attention of doctors in Peru and Ecuador. have given in recent weeks.
