Foreign ministers from 18 countries met in Panama, where they discussed a multilateral agenda focused on economic recovery.
This meeting addressed issues on the global agenda that directly affect the region, such as the consequences of the invasion of Ukraine and the persistence of the pandemic. They also discussed the increase in crude oil and its derivatives, the increase in the price of the food supply chain and other basic goods.
During this rapprochement, Panama consolidates its diplomatic leadership, the foreign ministers of Central America and the Caribbean analyzed, together with the head of the European Union, a joint proposal to deal with the effects of the armed conflicts and the consequences of the invasion of Ukraine, strengthening relationships and interests and goals to share.
In this context, Panamanian Foreign Minister Erika Mouynes highlighted that in the last month the country has been placed in the world sphere “as a meeting point, for dialogue and consensus, recovering the historical role of Panama in the search for concrete solutions to the problems that affect our peoples”.
Panama continues to lead sensitive issues and we will continue with this country agenda, in order to harmonize and articulate the objectives for strengthening integration, cooperation, democracy and understanding. The importance of the European Union in the historical process of Central American integration and its continued support was also highlighted.
