Yurieski Torreblanca’s gold and the classification of all Cuban teams to the Santiago de Chile 2023 Games, marked the closure of Cuba in the Pan American Wrestling Championship held until this Saturday in Argentina.
Torreblanca, who represents Cuba in the 86 kg freestyle, won his fourth crown in tournaments of this type after beating Canadian Alexander Moore 5-1 in the final, according to review the digital site Hit.
Previously, the native of Pinero had beaten Puerto Rican Diego Alfonso González and Brazilian Bruno Nicoletti, both due to technical superiority, and American Mark John Hall II (14-4) in the semifinals.
On the day, the island was also on the podium thanks to Alejandro Valdés (65 kg) and Arturo Silot (97 kg), winners of silver medals, and Santiago Hernández (57 kg) and Franklin Marén (74 kg), who rose with bronzes.
In fifth place, the experienced Reineris Salas (125 kg) closed, added the specialized media.
In this way, the Cuban wrestling team completed all its places for the Pan American Games in Santiago de Chile, something that was also achieved by the female cast and the male cast of Greco-Roman wrestling.
In short, Cuba closed the event with five titles, since before Torreblanca Luis Orta (67 kg), Oscar Pino (130 kg) and Daniel Grégorich (87 kg) had already triumphed in the Greek, and Milaymis Marín among the girls.
Likewise, the grequistas Yosvanys Peña (77 kg, silver) and Kevin de Armas (60 kg, bronze) won medals.
