The national director of Inclusive Transport Strategies of the Ministry of Transport, Jorge Rivasassured this Sunday that the main responsibility of the Front of All (FdT) is to “avoid the return of the conservative restoration” and asked to put into operation “all the distributive mechanisms” to resolve the demands of those who are below the poverty line.
During an act that he led in Rosario to consolidate the place of the left in the official political coalition, he said that “socialists are not afraid of disputes or internal differences, but we are not going to play a game that weakens the government and feeds the enemybecause the main contradiction, which in 2019 led us to form the Frente de Todos, is still in force, and our main responsibility is to prevent the return of the conservative restoration”.
The official, who in 2007 became quadriplegic after suffering an attack in a robbery, when he was deputy chief of staff of the now president Alberto Fernandezled a national act of the Socialist Confederation at the Club Central Córdoba in Rosario, where militants from all over the country discussed “the place of the left” in the “national and popular project.”
Representatives from cooperatives and recovered factories, from human rights organizations, from the feminist and diversity field, trade unions and from the field of culture participated.
In this framework, Rivas pointed out the need to “put into operation all the distributive mechanisms imposed by the situation”because “that is what half of our people who today are below the poverty line demand of us.”
The Confederation, in the words of the leader, is postulated as an organization that brings together socialists from the national and popular fields, to make visible “an alternative force to that other organization, bureaucratized, sectarian, oligarchized and vertical, which is what has converted the Socialist Party, today shamelessly integrated into the electoral armoury of neoliberalism”.
In the same line, Oscar Urrutand, president of the Popular Initiative (host political party of the day), expressed: “Today we gave strength to this leftist space that accompanies the Front of All, in a context where the new post-pandemic stage allowed us to meet again to put a new dynamic into that construction, which we hope will be entrenched within the Front by 2023 to once again return to victory and give hope to the Argentine people”.
Another historical socialist leader, Oscar Gonzalez, Secretary of Parliamentary Relations during the government of Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, said: “We come to claim the need for a true left, sensitive to the demands of society, far from high-sounding consignism and, above all, articulated with the national universe and popular that is expressed electorally in the Front of All”.
There were representatives of socialism from the provinces of Buenos Aires, Santa Cruz, Chubut, San Luis, La Rioja, Misiones, Córdoba, Santiago del Estero, Tucumán and Santa Fe, and from the city of Buenos Aires.
The support from Tierra del Fuego of the former governor Fabiana Ríos, of the Patagonian Social Party (a party that also joined from Santa Cruz), of the national deputy Carolina Yutrovic, of the former Buenos Aires legislator and singer Susana Rinaldi and of referents of the Socialist Party was highlighted. Authentic, as well as the feminist and LGTB + collective and veterans of the Malvinas War.
