Ostfield spoke with presidential candidates about organized crime installed in the country

Marc Ostfield, ambassador to the United States, held a meeting with the two main presidential candidates on Thursday.

“We talked about shared priorities and values between the United States and Paraguay. We consider it important to continue supporting the country, strengthening democracy, the rule of law and bilateral trade,” the diplomat posted on social networks.

Efraín Alegre, presidential candidate for the Concertación, expressed that he found it an interesting meeting and that they addressed fundamental issues.

“I am convinced that the great step that Paraguay must take is towards institutionality, against the mafia installed in our institutions, we are threatened by money. The enemy to defeat is not the Colorado Party, it is the money from illegality and the mafia, which endangers all the institutions. We talked about that aspect quite a bit,” he said.
