Oriente Petrolero comes from a crucial victory against Universitario (2-1) and will seek to maintain the positive streak in its next two games: a visit to Independiente on May 21 and a home match against The Strongest on May 26.
The ‘refiner’ began the Clausura with a defeat against Aurora, but managed to bounce back with last weekend’s victory. The team seeks to leave behind the difficulties of the Apertura, where it was eliminated in the group stage, and the beginning of the Clausura, marked by claims by players for salary debts.
Despite the difficulties, Oriente achieved a convincing victory against the Apertura runners-up, Universitario. The president of the club, Ronald Raldes, has indicated that the issue of reinforcements has not yet been discussed with the technical director Tucho Antelo or the players, since they all have contracts until the end of the year.
The next two games will be crucial for Oriente Petrolero, which seeks to improve its performance and climb positions in the table. The match against Independiente will be played on May 21 at 8:00 p.m. at the Patria stadium, while the match against The Strongest will be played on May 26 at 7:30 p.m. at the Tahuichi Aguilera.
It should be noted that The Strongest could rotate his starting squad for the game against Oriente, since on May 29 they have an important Copa Libertadores match against Gremio. This match will define whether El’Tigre advances as first or second in group C to the round of 16.
Oriente Petrolero hopes to take advantage of the possible rotation of The Strongest squad and score important points in these two games before the break for the Bolivian team and the Copa América. The refiner seeks to consolidate itself as a “competitive team” and fight for a place in international tournaments by 2025.
