Oracle and Vodafonethe largest company in technological communications from Europe and Africahave announced today the formalization of a strategic alliance to modernize infrastructure of the operator’s European IT and accelerate its transition to the cloud.
Pursuant to the multi-year agreement, Vodafone will modernize and migrate a large number of systems to the OCI Dedicated Region, a cloud-managed region that incorporates all of Oracle’s public cloud services into its own data centers and network. Vodafone.

With this initiative, Vodafone will have a dedicated cloud platform with which it can modernize its thousands of Oracle databases, as well as strengthen and scale its essential OSS and BSS systems, including CRM and order management.
This implementation will also allow Vodafone to accelerate the development of new cloud-based applications and, taking advantage of its geographical reach, launch them in multiple markets simultaneously.
Oracle will deploy OCI Dedicated Region in Vodafone’s main data centers responsible for managing its European IT and network operations.
Deploying cloud infrastructure services directly within Vodafone’s own network and data centers will allow the operator to flexibly modernize, manage and automate its core systems using new technologies, such as autonomous services, and more easily meet latency and throughput requirements of these applications.

Vodafone will also have direct access to the computing resources it needs to dynamically grow and scale services across multiple geographies based on changing business requirements, reduce operating costs and comply with data residency regulations.
The alliance will give impetus to Vodafone’s multi-year initiative that aims to consolidate and modernize the technological infrastructure that houses its essential systems, until it becomes a shared, proprietary and open platform capable of supporting and scaling next-generation digital services.
