The action against illegal mining in the Yanomami Indigenous Land lasted a month and resulted in the arrest of 25 people, the seizure of aircraft and ammunition, and 115 infraction notices.

. Held between July 5 and August 7, the action resulted in the arrest of 25 people and the seizure and destruction of 119 ammunition. 115 infraction notices were also issued.

According to the ministry, the operation to combat illegal mining and environmental illicit activities in the Yanomami Indigenous Land, in Roraima, involved the participation of 12 federal institutions. There were also 712 health services provided to the indigenous population.

The operation also included the inspection of airfields, airstrips, airports, fueling points and aircraft; river and road blocks; land monitoring; destruction of engines, generators and conveyors, in addition to administrative measures. Due to lack of authorization, three tanks with a capacity of 15 thousand liters (empty) were interdicted and seven people had their license to fly suspended.

The Ministry of Justice and Public Security emphasized that the monitoring of illegal mining and environmental illicit in the region is permanent. Once the criminal actions have been identified, the folder brings together several federal institutions to compose Operation Guardians of the Biome so that they act within their attributions, suffocating the logistics of criminal organizations. In the operation carried out in 2021, 90 aircraft were seized and 22 were destroyed.

The operation had the integrated action of the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac), the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP), the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel), the Brazilian Army, the Brazilian Air Force, the National Institute for Public Security, the National Indian Foundation (Funai), the Brazilian Institute for the Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (Ibama), the Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation (ICMBio), the Federal Police, the Federal Highway Police and of the Special Secretariat for Indigenous Health.
