Onemi declares red alert in La Serena after forest fire in Caleta San Pedro

The National Emergency Office (Onemi) declared a red alert after a fire registered in Caleta San Pedro, in La Serena.

The National Forestry Corporation (Conaf) reported that the sinister is “active” and has consumed a total of 0.5 hectares of vegetation and as a result of its rapid advance and spread it threatens inhabited sectors surrounding the place of the event.

Given this background, the Regional Presidential Delegation of Coquimbo, in coordination with Onemi, declared a red alert for the commune of La Serena, which will be in effect from today until conditions so warrant.

Two Conaf technicians are working at the site, together with Firefighters from La Serena and Coquimbo.
