MIAMI, United States. — One person died and three others were injured in a traffic accident that occurred this Thursday at kilometer 413 of the Central Highway, in the municipality of Jatibonico, province of Sancti Spíritus.
According to the official newspaper Escambraythe incident occurred after a cargo truck belonging to the Azumat company and a Lada brand car collided.
The victim was identified as Yoandy Naranjo, 36 years old, who lived in the municipality of Trinidad. The wounded were Dariel Cabrales Pérez (36), from Sancti Spíritus; Gladys Benítez Jiménez (51), from Jatibonico, and Adrián Rodríguez Rodríguez (40) residing in the provincial capital.
The official media indicates that the three injured are admitted to the Camilo Cienfuegos Provincial General Hospital, in the provincial capital.
Cabrales Pérez is in the Intensive Care Unit with a closed abdominal trauma and abdominal wound, among other injuries, while Gladys Benítez Jiménez and Adrián Rodríguez Rodríguez remain admitted to the observation room of the largest care center in the province.
Escambray specified that authorities and specialists from the Ministry of the Interior (MININT) were investigating the causes of the event.
Jatibonico: danger on the road
Jatibonico is one of the Cuban municipalities that annually reports the highest number of traffic accidents.
On May 11, a crash between a bus from the National Omnibus company and a light car was recorded in that territory. The accident occurred at the height of the El Cinco neighborhood, in the municipality of Jatibonico, at kilometer 415 of the Central Highway.
On October 27, 2021, a mass transit accident at kilometer 426 of the Central Highway, near the village of El Perico, near Jatibonico. Four people lost their lives in the accident.
