In a tweet in which he wrote nothing to hidethe Minister of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) Yasmín Esquivel Mossa included a message in which she established a position on the alleged plagiarism in which she incurred in her thesis to graduate as a lawyer, denying categorically and strictly the fact and affirms that it was the opposite: his thesis was plagiarized, for which he filed a complaint. He considered that the accusation against him is intended to influence public opinion and ministers regarding the election of the next president of the SCJN, to be held in January, and confirms that he will run for the position. Below is the text that he posted on his Twitter account:

“Mexico City, December 25, 2022. Position of Minister Yasmín Esquivel Mossa on the alleged plagiarism of her thesis project.

“I strictly and categorically deny the accusations made regarding an alleged plagiarism of my degree thesis that have circulated on social networks and in some media. This is the reality: 1. My thesis Ineffectiveness of the Unions in the Workeris of Confidence of Article 123 Section A it is an original and authentic project that I began to write and review since 1985. One year before the thesis Similary that the student Edgar Ulises Báez Gutiérrez would have prepared. 2. My degree thesis is original, as has been described and testified in various recent interventions and statements by both Master Martha Rodríguez Ortiz, who was the director of my thesis; such as Doctor Hugo Ítalo Morales, who from 1982 to 1996 directed the Seminar on Labor Law and Social Security at the Law School of the National Autonomous University of Mexico; Likewise, Master Javier Carreón Hernández, appointed as a member of the synod of my professional examination, indicated that I had an outstanding performance. The professional exam was unanimously approved by the synods, granting special recognition.

“3. None of the academics participating in the process of preparing my thesis, nor the undersigned, were contacted to corroborate and collate the published information, which constitutes a lack of journalistic ethics and professionalism. 4. The UNAM has opened a review process, which seems to me an appropriate action to be defined and analyzed based on university legislation. I confirm my willingness to collaborate with the university authorities in the process and thus determine responsibilities. I am the first interested in clarifying this situation in its entirety and verifying the truth.

“5. For now, I have denounced the alleged plagiarism of my thesis project before the corresponding prosecutor’s office. 6. It is evident that the objective of these defamations is to intervene in a process that is the sole responsibility of the Ministers of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation. This perverse campaign aims to influence public opinion and influence the mood of those who must make the decision in this election, which is illusory, because they are legal professionals who cannot be manipulated with actions of this type. since they are aware of the constant external attacks and interventions, which seek to alter internal decisions based on political and economic interests. The members of the Plenary are aware of the responsibility we have.

“7. Strange, that throughout my 40-year career as a judge and public servant, this fallacious argument has never been used, neither when I served as an Agrarian Magistrate, nor when I was President of the Contentious and Administrative Court of Mexico City, nor when I was proposed to be Minister. Now that I have raised my hand to aspire to the Presidency of the SCJN, with a serious, solid and viable work program for the Judiciary of the Federation, it is intended to sow doubt about my prestige and personal and professional integrity. 8. Due to all of the above, I have the obligation to publicly denounce this external and undue attempt that, based on lies and defamation, intends to influence the next election of the President of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation, and with it , impose interests outside the election process.

“9. I appreciate the expressions of solidarity from my fellow Ministers and my fellow Ministers, in addition to the Magistrates and the Magistrates of the Judiciary of the Federation and local courts. Also of other public and private actors.

“10. I have always sought the consolidation of a more efficient, modern and independent Judicial Power of the Federation with respect to factual powers and interests. For this reason, I will continue in the fight to consolidate a true Rule of Law and, on January 2, I will seek with my proposal, that for the first time in the history of our country the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation be presided over by a woman.

Yasmin Esquivel Mossa. Minister of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation.
