The National Directorate for Drug Control (DNCD) reported this Friday on the seizure of 424 drug packages, presumably cocaineon the coast of Baní, Peravia province, and the arrest of three Dominicans linked to the shipment from South America.
Judicial sources from Peravia, where measures of coercion against the detainees will be known in the next few hours, identified them as Yovanny de la Cruz de la Rosa, Alejandro Peralta and Franklin Efraín Peña.
The spokesman for the DNCDCarlos Devers, said that the cache was occupied in a go fast type speedboat, about 28 feet in length, intersected several nautical miles from Punta Salinas, in an operation that lasted more than 20 hours and in which air units participated , naval and terrestrial.
He reported that two GPS devices, three cell phones, a satellite phone, and three outboard motors were also seized in the operation, among other evidence.
He indicated that the investigations around the case continue in search of arresting other possible members of the drug trafficking network that would introduce the drug into the country.
The 424 packages will be sent to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (inacif) to determine the exact type and weight of the substance.
Reinforcement
Carlos Devers reported that the international airports of Las Américas, Cibao and Punta Cana have doubled the staff of the DNCD and reinforced its canine units, as well as in the Multimodal Caucedo and Haina ports, given the increase in the arrival of passengers and the operations of these airport terminals.
He maintained that surveillance of the coasts in the east and south of the country has also been strengthened to continue increasing the operability and prevention of the transfer of narcotics.
He recalled that so far this year the DNCD More than 31 tons of different drugs have been seized, of which more than 90% correspond to cocaine.
