Ombudsman Eduardo Leblanc, urges to use the FECE for schools

A call for the Fund for Equity and Quality of Education (FECE) to be used as soon as possible, for the needs of educational centers, was made by the Ombudsman, Eduardo Leblanc González, before the start of the 2022 school year.

Leblanc González was surprised that there is a general balance of the FECE for an amount that exceeds 55 million, while in the Ngäbe-Buglé Comarca there is a balance of 10 million dollars that they have not invested.

“I make a call to the school directors or regional directors since the FECE they have it for repair and maintenance primarily, but also to buy laboratory equipment, school furniture, educational technology, teaching materials and strengthen nutritional programs,” he said.

On the other hand, he added that the Ombudsman will continue to visit schools through the 14 Regional Offices at the national level to later present a report to the Ministry of Education.

“We have some schools that we are following up on, such as Richard Newman, among others, the José Dolores Moscote Institute as well as the Guillermo Endara Galimany and others in the San Miguelito district,” said the Ombudsman.

He recognized that 85% of the educational establishments are starting at 100% and there is communication with the Meduca who delivered a roadmap, which the Ombudsman will continue to monitor to guarantee the right to education of children and adolescents in the country. .
