Four people were killed in a shooting Wednesday on a hospital campus in Tulsa, Oklahoma, police said.
The incident occurred shortly before 6 pm local time on the Saint Francis Hospital campus, according to the Tulsa Police Department.
Officers responded to the scene within three minutes, police said.
The attacker was not identified but was described as a black man between 35 and 40 years old, Tulsa Deputy Police Chief Eric Dalgleish said at a news conference.
He was with a long gun and a pistol, Dalgleish said.
Officers found the suspect on the second floor of the hospital building.
“The officers that arrived heard gunshots in the building, and that’s what directed them to the second floor,” Dalgleish said.
Both weapons appeared to have been fired.
The gunman is believed to have committed suicide.
“At this point, we believe it is self-inflicted,” Dalgeish said.
Police Captain Richard Meulenberg said multiple people were injured and the medical complex was a “disaster scene.”
