MIAMI, United States. — Cuban journalist Paquita Armas Fonseca, a regular contributor to official media such as cubadebate, the jiribilla, CubaSí and the Cuban Television Portaldied this Monday in Havana one day after he turned 73 years old.
Born in Holguín on February 26, 1950, she graduated in Journalism from the Universidad de Oriente in 1977 and worked as editor-in-chief of the magazines We are young and Bearded Caimandirecting the latter between 1984 and 1988.
The agency Latin Press points out that, during his career, Armas Fonseca specialized in cultural journalism, mainly in film, radio and television.
He was also a member of the executive of the radio and television film association of the National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC).
“Paquita Armas Fonseca was a happy and full woman. The years will pass and we will remember every word of yours, every unmatched Pacazo, your advice and unique nonsense will be missed. Today I will celebrate your life and the enormous privilege of having you close. I will love you forever my Paca ”, she wrote in Facebook the official spokesman Humberto López, who was closely related to the deceased.
Paquita de Armas stood out for being a defender of the Cuban regime and of the socialist system established on the Island. Her texts on Marxism have appeared in Bearded Caiman, the jiribilla, rebel youth, Bohemiaamong others.
While still alive, he obtained various recognitions for representatives of the official press, such as the Distinction for National Culture, the Caracol and July 26 Awards, granted by the Union of Cuban Journalists (UPEC).
