Nike Air Zoom Pegasus: Díaz-Canel appears on the boardwalk with running shoes

MIAMI, United States. — The Cuban regime developed this Friday on the Havana boardwalk the central act for the International Workers’ Daya discreet mobilization that had as protagonists the Cuban dictator Raúl Castro and the ruler Miguel Díaz-Canel.

State television, which broadcast the event live, at all times avoided offering open plans of the concentration, whose property was located next to the Hotel Nacional de Cuba.

The ceremony included a “cultural moment” by the musician Arnaldo Rodríguez, director of the group El Talismán, the singer Osdalgia and the former member of The Van Van Mayito Rivera.

The shoes used for the occasion by Miguel Díaz-Canel did not go unnoticed, who arrived at “the workers’ party” wearing the successful Nike Air Zoom Pegasus —possibly some version between 38 and 40—, whose price ranges between 100 and 160 dollars americans.

Although they are not excessively expensive shoes in the US sports shoe market, they can hardly be purchased in stores on the Island, where the big brands tend to sell inventory out of season.

It should be noted that the use of shoes from major sports brands by senior leaders of the Cuban regime is not a new practice. The dictator Fidel Castro himself used footwear from the German firm Adidas during his last years in power.

In the case of Díaz-Canel’s Nike Air Zoom Pegasus, these are shoes designed by the American company for runners.

The specialized website Running Shoes Guru points out that the latest version of the Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 40 —very similar to those of Díaz-Canel— offer stability and durability for daily use and are designed for short and medium distance races.

Despite its marked comfort, the Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 40 does not present a substantial improvement than its previous versions, the Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 38 and 39.
