In celebration of the 32nd anniversary of “Russia Day”, the regime of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nicaragua, congratulated Vladimir Putin and justified his invasion — four months ago — of Ukraine.
“In this celebration of the 32nd anniversary of Russia Day, the government and people of Nicaragua reaffirm their indestructible friendship and solidarity with the brothers of the Russian Federation and we convey the fraternal greetings and congratulations of the President of the Republic, Commander Daniel Ortega Saavedra and Comrade Vice President Rosario Murillo to President Vladimir Putin and the Russian people and government”, highlights the message of the Nicaraguan dictatorship.

Alluding to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine —condemned by the international community—, the Ortega regime justified the invasion and at the same time attacked the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and the United States.
«The Russian Federation with full rights, patriotism and dignity, defends its sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity, in the face of constant offensives and aggression by countries of the European Union, members of NATO, led by US imperialism, whose goal is to defeat Russia.
“International peace and security are seriously threatened by these Western powers that attack to maintain their hegemonic power over states, peoples and humanity,” the regime stressed.
They criticize “economic and political war” against Putin
Regarding the sanctions imposed on Russia due to the invasion of Ukraine, the Ortega dictatorship pointed out that in recent months the Russian government has faced “an unprecedented economic and political war by Western countries, the European Union, United Kingdom and allied countries.
“This is a hybrid war against the Russian nation that attacks even the spheres of sports, culture and humanitarian cooperation, it is the continuation of Hitlerian fascism against progressive countries,” Ortega accused.

He also insisted on ensuring that Russia “struggles for world peace and against fascist terrorism that attacks and threatens the world, resolutely confronts the Hitlerian hordes that are organized, armed and with logistical support from Western powers, NATO and the American power elites.
Ortega promises greater support to Russia
