The Police of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo prohibited the San José de Tipitapa Parish from celebrating the processions in honor of the Immaculate Conception of Mary, in the framework in which the Catholic Church of Nicaragua begins the novena to the Virgin.
Through a statement, the ecclesiastical authorities reported that at about noon they received a call from the Police in which they denied permission to go out with the image to the streets of that municipality of Managua. They point out that, at the time of notification, the image of the Virgin visited the first sector scheduled for this Monday.
“We want to express our deep sadness at this fact that denies us to express our faith in public,” lamented the San José Parish in the letter shared on social networks.
Immediately afterwards, he reported that due to this situation, all the activities planned for the next few days have been canceled and will take place in the parish church from 11:30 in the morning with the Holy Rosary, until 7:00 at night with the mass, I pray at the novena and the traditional toast.

“Presbyter Dulio Calero invites the parishioners to continue celebrating our lady with fervor and devotion and to participate in each of the activities for these days, placing our country and church under her protection and maternal intercession,” he encouraged.
Another case
On November 18, the San Pedro Parish, Ciudad Darío, in Matagalpa, also reported that the Virgin Immaculate Conception of Mary will not carry out the procession that she normally does every year, but assured that the image will only visit the corresponding neighborhoods where people will raise a altar to carry out the Eucharist.
“We ask you to please wait for the image of the Virgin in each neighborhood, since the image will not go out in procession as it normally has been done. There will be no procession at dawn or at night,” the parish statement said.
In this case it is unknown if it was a decision made by the ecclesiastical authorities or it was a police order. Last August, the city of Matagalpa was militarized for several days, after the repressive institution surrounded the residence of Monsignor Rolando Álvarez, who has currently been held in police custody for more than three months, after being forcibly removed from the Episcopal Curia and taken to Managua.
“We ask you to participate with great faith and devotion. Above all with obedience in these Marian Festivities”, encouraged the San Pedro Parish for its part.
