Nicaraguan regime formalizes withdrawal of its ambassador to Spain

Through presidential agreement 42-2022, published in La Gaceta, Daniel Ortega annulled the appointment of Carlos Antonio Midence as extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of Nicaragua in the Kingdom of Spain, “with residence in the City of Madrid”.

The new action of the Nicaraguan dictatorship occurs after March 10 was brought forward on the withdrawal of the ambassador Midence in Spain, which responds, according to the Spanish Foreign Ministry; to a warning of possible expulsion of the official due to the refusal of the Daniel Ortega administration to prevent the ambassador from entering Managua Maria del Mar Fernandez-Palaciosrepresentative of Pedro Sánchez.

Ortega accused Spain of “pressuring” and “threatening” his former ambassador

In a press release issued by the Nicaraguan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he stressed that he had informed the Spanish Foreign Ministry of his decision to withdraw Ambassador Midence from his duties. They point out that Ortega’s envoy is the victim of “continuous pressure” and “threats” that he described as “interfering.”
