The Nicaraguan Ministry of Health reported this Tuesday that there were no deaths from covid-19 in the last seven days, with which the country reached two and a half months without reports of deaths from the pandemic.
“This week there were no deaths attributable to covid-19,” indicated the Nicaraguan Ministry of Health, in its latest report, which covers the last seven days since last September 27.
The last time that the Nicaraguan health authorities reported a death from covid-19 was in the middle of last July, when the figure stopped at 245 deaths in total, since the pandemic was discovered in Nicaragua, in March 2020.
The Ministry of Health, however, reported that it detected 33 new confirmed cases in the last week.
With the new cases detected, the number of covid-19 infections rose to 19,674 since March 2020, according to figures released by the Nicaraguan Government.
The official data remained distant from the records of the Covid-19 Citizen Observatory, a network of independent doctors that monitors the pandemic, and which until last July reported 6,066 deaths from pneumonia and other symptoms of the coronavirus, in addition to 32,650 suspected cases, figures that the Government rejects.

The Health authorities also indicated that they have given “responsible and careful monitoring to 15,092 people”, and that 14,814 have managed to recover from covid-19.
In Nicaragua, 90% of the population over 2 years of age already have the complete vaccination schedule against covid-19, while 95% have at least one dose, according to official data.
Since the pandemic began, Nicaragua has not applied restrictive measures as part of the fight against the coronavirus, which has earned it criticism from the World Health Organization (WHO). EFE
