“In these operations, intelligence on the use of force is prioritized, to guarantee a greater margin of safety in the actions of troops and other public security forces and, at the same time, reduce the fatality rate, prioritizing security at all times. of the population,” he said.

The purpose of these operations, he pointed out, “is to carry out the arrest of leaders of criminal organizations and generators of violence, the location of facilities used as drug production and storage centers, in addition to the seizure of weapons and other important results in terms of of public security”.

During the morning conference, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador denied that there is espionage in his government, although a journalistic investigation revealed that at least three journalists and activists were spied on with the “Pegasus” software.

“It is not true that journalists or opponents are spied on, we are not the same as the previous ones, it is not true. I made a commitment that no one was going to be spied on, no opponent, if they have evidence to present it,” he said on Tuesday when questioned about the alleged acquisition by the Ministry of National Defense of a remote information monitoring system. to the company with exclusive representation to sell “Pegasus” in Mexico.

In his press conference at the National Palace, the president asserted that the Ministry of National Defense carries out intelligence work, not espionage.

“It is that they have intelligence work that they carry out, not espionage, which is different. We do not spy on opponents and what our adversaries are looking for is to equate us with those who previously governed and we are not the same”, said the president.
