Editrudis Beltran assumed this Saturday the rectory of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD), with the challenge of facing the generational change of the teachers of the institution in need of resources.
Beltrán recognized that the discussions about the university revolve around the need for more resources from the State to meet the demands, which he pointed out is necessary for its modernization and raising quality.
The new rector asked the president of the Dominican Republic, Luis Abinader, who was present at the inauguration, to continue supporting the UASD for his “second major reform wave”.
Editrudis Beltran was sworn in by his predecessor Emma Polanco, the first woman to manage the UASDand who summarized the challenges he faced, citing the process of accelerating virtuality in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“It is urgent to address a series of unfinished reforms that limit administrative, teaching and student effectiveness,” said the physicist, who will be in charge of the academy until 2026.
Beltrán said that to end the year 2022, the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo will require 1,029. An additional 9 million pesos to cover payroll, current expenses and programming for the next semester in person.
“I cannot help but admit that this is a matter of modern management, cost efficiency, creativity and strategic management,” said Beltrán, who assured that he will submit elements in the UASD to improve spending.
