This long weekend became one of the most representative for the country, not only because of the commemoration of two national holidays, but also because of a new record that was set in sightseeing.
According to data from the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, for this weekend, the sector had a significant rebound, since 4.4 million people traveled to the country’s main destinations, which means that the sightseeing Internal continues to grow.
Of this figure, 2.3 million were tourists and 2.1 million excursionists, which is the highest figure for the sightseeing since it was incorporated as a national holiday on June 17, 2016.
In addition, the number represented double the number of travelers reported, during the same date, in 2019, before the coronavirus pandemic. According to provincial surveys, the North was the region with the highest occupancy, with more than 90% in its main destinations.
Likewise, there was a significant influx of travelers in Rosario, which represented a hotel occupancy of (95%), Santa Fe (80%), City of Buenos Aires (76%), San Miguel de Tucumán (81%), San Salvador from Jujuy (93%), Salta (90%), Posadas (75%), Paraná (70%), Mendoza (95%) and Villa Carlos Paz (84%).
Similarly, snow destinations reach an occupancy rate close to 100%, which anticipates a successful winter season, since, in addition, many citizens take advantage of the benefits of the Pre-Trip program to make sightseeing.
“In this regard, the Minister of Tourism, Matías Lammens, pointed out: “We are having an extra-long weekend well above what we had anticipated, which were already high figures. These numbers anticipate an absolutely record winter season with the strong boost that the arrival of a million tourists from abroad will give it.“.
