The Government set up the premises of the Paraguayan Navy in the work area of the Linear Park, with the aim of guarding the area of influence of the Héroes del Chaco Bridge, a seven-kilometre road project, which runs from the Costanera Norte de Asunción to the roundabout of the route between Falcón and Remanso.
Today, the inauguration of a section of Linear Park II and the Paraguayan Navy building in the northern area of the Costanera took place, President Mario Abdo Benitez and several authorities were present.
The new headquarters has the capacity to house 40 Navy personnel, including officers. The administrative offices were also enabled and later the services would be expanded with the security team for the corresponding control.
The General Naval Prefecture’s mission is to exercise surveillance and protection of river defenses, heritage and national interests in the water field. As well as they must comply with and enforce international conventions, laws, decrees and resolutions regarding river navigation in order to contribute to the mission of the Paraguayan Navy.
The naval general prefect, Luis Mariano Ciancio, described the work as “magnificent”, since it is located in a strategic position that can help with the proper fulfillment of the institution’s main mission.
