“Nenecho” denies irregular payments to EMPO

Álvaro Grau, councilor of the Patria Querida (PPQ) party, denounced on Wednesday that Óscar “Nenecho” Rodríguez, mayor of Asunción, made irregular payments to the EMPO firm for G. 22 billion.

Rodríguez, in an interview for 1080 AM, denied having made said payments.

“He is a great charlatan, this councilman (for Álvaro Grau) is a populist,” he said.

The context is as follows: Alberto Abujamra, majority shareholder of the firm EMPO SA, denounced that he was scammed by the company’s directors; Enrique Ortuoste and Arivaldo Domínguez, and initiates criminal proceedings. Such a situation is reported to the administration of Óscar “Nenecho” Rodríguez in April 2021.

Therefore, due to the legal dispute, Abujamra requests that no disbursement be made to the company, however, Rodríguez, ignoring the request, makes a payment of G. 22 billion for the company in charge of garbage collection.

DEBTS

When asked about the debts that ministries have with the commune, he stated that after the announcement, several entities contacted to propose a form of payment, the total debt is G. 200,000 million.

“We are not demanding that they cancel the debt at once (State Institutions), we ask that they present a payment plan,” he said.
