From Medellín, the High Commissioner for Peace, Juan Camilo Restrepo Gómez, rejected any type of political negotiations between the State and the ELN, after the trip of delegates from the government of President-elect Gustavo Petro to Cuba, to hold talks with members of the guerrilla group.

“Legislative Act 02 of 2019, which is in the Constitution, stipulates that there is no connection between political crime and drug trafficking crime, therefore we ratify that it is neither appropriate nor proper to engage in political negotiations between organized armed groups and the State.
