Santo Domingo.- In a comprehensive effort to counteract the smuggling of migrants and human trafficking, the Navy of the Dominican Republic launches the campaign “Saving lives at sea”, where, through it, it urges citizens to refrain from participating in illegal trips by sea, which puts their lives at risk, bringing mourning to many Dominican homes with this bad practice.
The general commander of the institution, Vice Admiral Ramón Gustavo Betances Hernández, ARD, warned the organizers of illegal trips that the Dominican Republic Navy will spare no effort to prevent and stop this scourge, through maritime and land patrols, and submission to justice. of the captains and organizers who are arrested breaking the law.
The Navy reiterates its call to all citizens not to be fooled by unscrupulous people who organize this kind of illegal trips, putting their lives and the tranquility of their families at risk, using fragile boats that do not have the minimum safety standards to resist the onslaught of the sea, nor the inclement weather; With this, the institution reaffirms its commitment to preserve, defend and protect the interests of the Dominican State and enforce the current maritime laws.
