Zelensky accuses Russia

Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski reiterated that it was “Russian missiles that hit” in the Polish town of Przewodów, near the Ukrainian border, killing two farmers.

In a message posted on his website, Zelenski referred to this incident that is being investigated by NATOgiven that it occurred on the territory of one of the Alliance countries, and that it has aggravated the tension between Western countries and Russia.

The president spoke of the G20 summit held on the Indonesian island of Bali which concluded today and in which “everyone talked about how to end the Russian war”.

“The Russian representative even made some comments,” Zelensky specified in reference to the Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov.

“And after that, almost 100 Russian missiles hit Ukraine. Residential buildings burned. Destroyed power plants again. Hundreds of cities were left without electricity, water and heating. Internet traffic has been reduced by two thirds,” he denounced.

“Unfortunately, there are human casualties. -he added- And not only in Ukraine! Russian missiles hit the territory of neighboring Poland yesterday. There should be a quick response.”

The President of Ukraine did not provide, however, no evidence for these claims.

For Zelensky, this attack shows the true attitude of Moscow, which should leave the G20, the group of the most developed countries in the world: “because Russia is a terrorist and we protect ourselves from it. Such is the reality”.

The Ukrainian leader already stated, shortly after the incident became known, that the explosion in the Polish town of Przewodów was caused by Russian missiles.

“What we have been warning about for a long time has happened. Terror is not limited to our national borders. Russian missiles have hit Poland”said the Ukrainian president through his Telegram account.

While NATO has launched an investigation into the event, which occurred a few kilometers from Ukrainian territory, US President Joe Biden believes it is “unlikely” that the alleged missile was fired from Russia.

“There is a lot of information that contradicts that. I don’t want to say until we fully investigate, but it is unlikely due to the trajectory that it was fired from Russia.”Biden specified yesterday in Bali at the G20 summit.

For his part, Russia assured that it has not carried out attacks against targets near the Polish town of Przewodów and described as “deliberate provocation” the statements by the Polish media and officials about the alleged fall of Russian artifacts on the border between Ukraine and Poland.

“No attacks were made against targets near the Ukrainian-Polish state border by Russian means of destruction”said the Ministry of Defense in a brief statement.
