The national production in the month of February 2022 registered an increase of 4.92%, reported the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI). This due to the increase in the sectors: accommodation and restaurants; trade, transportation and storage; manufacture; telecommunications; agricultural; services provided to electricity, gas and water and mining and hydrocarbon companies.
The sector that grew the most was that of the accommodation and restaurants sector with 92.73%, due to greater activity in the accommodation subsector (131.99%) and in the restaurants subsector (92.06%).
It is followed by the transport, storage and courier sector, with a growth of 15.8% and the commerce sector, with an increase of 7.48%, driven by the positive performance of the vehicle sales and repair division.
However, other productive sectors showed contraction such as construction, financial and insurance, and fishing. It should be noted that these results are based on February 2021, a month with restrictions established by the second wave of COVID-19 in the country, with the consequent impact on productive activity.
The fishing sector was the one that fell the most, with a decrease of 21.08%, due to the lower capture of marine species.
According to the main components of internal demand, investment in construction registered a decrease of 2.53% and household consumption, reflected in retail sales, presented a variation of 3.69%.
On the other hand, the external demand for non-traditional products increased by 14.30%, including agricultural, textile, fishing, chemical, metalworking, iron and steel and non-metallic mining.
