National Police launches campaign against stray bullets

Commissioner Hugo Díaz, head of investigations of the National Police, affirmed that the firing of stray bullets is a situation that generates a risk for the protection of life and the family.

“The National Police always foresees these situations. A 4-year-old minor victim, who due to the irresponsibility of a person in charge of a taxi, shot into the air and the bullet fell on this minor. Unfortunately that injury caused her death. The perpetrator of the act is currently under the direction of the Judiciary,” she said.

He affirmed that there are other events involving intentional shooting, often under the influence of alcoholic beverages or other narcotics.

“They are the bullets that come out of the cannon tube, after reaching a certain height they fall back and seek contact with the surface. That impact causes an injury which then results in the death of the injured person. The National Police is carrying out an awareness campaign so as not to fire unnecessary shots,” he commented.
