The national festivities will begin on Friday the 15th of September and will run until Tuesday the 19th. It is important to remember that September 18 and 19 are non-waivable holidays, which means that employees should not work and employers cannot require them to do so.
Those who fail to comply with this regulation are exposed to significant economic sanctions. According to the Chile Atende website, the fine for not respecting the inalienable holiday, as occurs in the National Holidaysis 5 Monthly Tax Units (UTM) for each worker affected.
In addition to the national holidays of September, the holiday calendar for the year 2023 includes other important dates. Among them are the Day of the Virgen del Carmen on July 16, the Assumption of the Virgin on August 15, the Encounter of Two Worlds on October 9, and the Day of the Evangelical and Protestant Churches on October 27.
The year culminates with All Saints’ Day on November 1, the Immaculate Conception on December 8, and Christmas on December 25, the latter also considered an inalienable holiday. Therefore, there is ample to rest even after September.
