During the ordinary session this Thursday the Assembly National (AN) approved the appointment of four Venezuelan ambassadors to brother countries.
These appointments were requested before parliament by President Nicolás Maduro.
During the debate, the appointment of Jorge Valero as Venezuela’s representative to the European Union (EU) was unanimously approved.
In this sense, the deputy Ilenia Medina, in her right to speak, highlighted Valero’s long career in the political sphere and his “irreproachable work in each responsibility that he has had to assume.”
“Jorge Valero, with enormous experience during his career, has a gigantic, complex, very complex task, but we are sure that he will be up to the task precisely because of his experience,” he said.

This Thursday, the appointment of José Rafael Silva Aponte as extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of Venezuela to Iran was also authorized.
“I am convinced that this man will be a worthy representative of Venezuela to strengthen relations with Iran in oil, health and military matters,” said AN deputy Edgardo Ramírez, during his right to speak prior to the approval of the authorization. of the appointment.
Silva Aponte, who reached the rank of Major General of the Military Aviation (the highest) and has a degree in Military Sciences and Arts from the Bolivarian Military Aviation, was Assistant Coordinator of the Guard of Honor of President Hugo Chavez; Commander of the Simón Bolívar Air Fighter Group; Commander of the Libertador Air Base and of the Los Llanos Strategic Integral Defense Region (Redi Los Llanos).
Appointment to the ICC
The second vice president of the AN, Vanessa Montero, announced the approval of the appointment of Calixto Ortega as permanent representative ambassador of Venezuela before the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPAQ) and the International Criminal Court (ICC); as well as before other international organizations and tribunals.
During the announcement, he highlighted the extensive experience of Calixto Ortega within Venezuelan peace diplomacy, “characterized by also having a high human value.”
“Today it is an honor for me to present before the plenary a citizen who is going to assume a great responsibility, such as Calixto Ortega, today, a historic date for us for the birth of the greatest diplomat that this land has known. , as was Hugo Chavez,” he said.

As a last point, the parliament approved the appointment of David Nieves Velásquez Caraballo as ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
In this sense, the deputy for the ruling caucus Roy Daza valued the appointment of David Nieves, highlighting his extensive career from the youth and student movement.
“We had the opportunity to talk with David Nieves about his work plans, we are honored to know that he comes from the student movement, the youth movement, he comes from being a parliamentarian and that he was also a minister of Commander Chávez,” he said.
Likewise, Daza emphasized the experience of David Nieves, as deputy minister in the Middle East and Asia, being “that experience very important for our country,” he added.
