During the meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), a document was approved in support and recognition of the Government of the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro.
Through his official Twitter account, the Deputy Ambassador of Venezuela to the United Nations (UN), Joaquín Pérez Ayestarán, reported that the document was approved by the heads of State and Government in Kampala, the capital of Uganda.
“The Ministers of Foreign Relations of the NAM rejected the unilateral coercive measures imposed on high officials of the Venezuelan State, as well as the unilateral economic, commercial and financial coercive measures, illegally imposed against the nation, since August 25, 2017, which have a direct impact on the Venezuelan people, affecting the full enjoyment of their human rights,” the letter reports.
Similarly, they expressed their concern about said measures, which are a violation of international law, “goes against the provisions of the Declaration on the Principles of International Law, referring to Friendly and Cooperation Relations between States, in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations.
They also called on the United States Government to “completely, immediately and unconditionally repeal such coercive, unilateral and interventionist measures, which affect the spirit of dialogue and political understanding between nations.”
The ministers of Foreign Affairs of the NAM ratified their confidence in the participatory and protagonist democracy of Venezuela, regarding the upcoming presidential elections.
Finally, the permanent ambassador of Venezuela to the UN and other International Organizations in Geneva, Switzerland, Héctor Constant, highlighted the recognition by the NAM for the strengthening of cooperation between Venezuela and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Human Rights (OHCHR).
