US Assistant Undersecretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs Brian A. Nichols expressed concern about the murder of journalists in Mexico. On Twitter, the US government’s top State Department official for the Americas said: The murder of journalists and members of #CivilSociety in Mexico is a tremendous problem and a stain for those of us who work to defend and support #PressFreedom
. He added: We need to demand accountability and action to protect these important members of society.
