MSP enables nursing and medical students to "beef up" Health services

Through an ordinance, the Ministry of Public Health enabled nursing and medical students to perform “low complexity” tasks in order to help staff working at emergency doors or health services at the first level of care.

The Minister of Public Health, Daniel Salinas, announced on his Twitter account this ordinance that establishes some requirements.

As for the nurses “have completed the bachelor’s degree curriculum” corresponding to the “intermediate degree” or be studying the career of professionalization of nursing assistants.

As for medical students, they must have fourth year approved

Those interested may apply through an online registry that will generate this portfolio, which will be made available to health providers.

“Each provider will be responsible for requesting the documentation that accredits the requirements,” explains the MSP in its ordinance number 184, released this Wednesday.

These provisions will remain in force until the health emergency declared by the Executive Power at the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020 ends.

This decision of the ministry obeys the “high level of circulation” of the coronavirus that has generated a “sustained increase in positive cases” in recent weeks.

This has caused users to go to emergency doors to first level care services. In addition, the MSP found that the nursing sector has one of the highest rates of positivity “resenting” the operation of the service. This forced the authorities to take “temporary” measures to strengthen human resources in care services at this level.
