In the first five months of the year, the production of motorcycles grew 22.9% compared to the same period last year, with the manufacture of 569,598 units, informed today (13) the Brazilian Association of Manufacturers of Motorcycles, Mopeds, Scooters, Bicycles and Similar (Abraciclo). According to the association, this was the best performance for the period since 2015.
The result was also positive in comparison with May, when 129,781 motorcycles were produced, which represented an increase of 15.2% compared to April. In the annual comparison with May last year, the high was 25%.
In relation to motorcycle retail sales, the increase was 25.6% in the year, totaling 515,724 units sold. Considering only the month of May, license plates registered the best result of the year, with the licensing of 133,344 units, up 23.8% compared to April and 20.8% compared to May last year. According to Abraciclo, this was the best performance for a month of May since 2012.
Most motorcycle license plates in the first five months of this year occurred in the Southeast Region (38.6% of the total), followed by the Northeast (30.1%).

From January to May of this year, 20,523 motorcycles were exported, which represented a drop of 6.1% compared to the same period last year. Considering only the month of May, exports grew 51.8% compared to April, with a volume of 5,990 vehicles traded.
