Mothers’ Month Special Program begins

DAJABON.- With a crowded event in the border area of Dajabón, the Presidency’s Social Assistance Plan began its program of meetings and rapprochement with mothers throughout the national territory on the occasion of Mothers’ Month.

Hundreds of mothers from this community gathered at this first meeting, who received support from the institution through its “Equipped Home, Better Quality of Life” program, with the delivery of household goods and food rations.

The same thing happened this Sunday with mothers from the Peravia province, in another crowded event that benefited hundreds of parents.

The meetings headed by the director of the Social Plan, Yadira Henríquez, seek to promote the empowerment of women and recognize the courage, tenacity and sacrifice of Dominican mothers.

The goods and articles donated to the beneficiaries include living room sets, refrigerators, washing machines, televisions, stoves with ovens, dressers and other household utensils that are essential for the dignity of families.

In the same context of services, pregnant women from the remote border community and from the province of Peravia received baskets for babies and, in an attempt to continue promoting entrepreneurship, semi-automatic sewing machines were also delivered.

Yadira Henríquez, a woman champion of the solution of the most pressing needs and consecrated fighter in favor of Dominican women, said that these activities will be extended to the entire national territory throughout the month of May.
