Moreno Martins secures the lead for Cerro Porteño

A dynamic and closely contested game began a new round of the championship, in a match that featured one of the leaders seeking to defend his place at the top.

Both teams generated risky situations, but it was always those led by Francisco ‘Chiqui’ Arce who had the greatest initiative when searching for the rival goal.

In the 73rd minute, the Bolivian Marcelo Moreno Martins -inducted as a replacement- would take all the spotlight when he opened the scoring with a brave high volley. The 1-0 would remain until the conclusion of the game.

With the victory, Cerro Porteño climbed to 31 units and confirmed its place at the top of the Clausura. Now it remains to be seen if he will be the only pointer at the end of this round or if Nacional, who plays on Monday vs. October 12, reach it again in the points harvest.

Sol, for his part, stopped at 17 points in this contest and put his place in the qualifying zone for the 2023 Copa Sudamericana at risk, in the cumulative table.

The entrance Moreno Martins secures the lead for Cerro Porteño was first published in diary TODAY.
