Traffic in downtown Buenos Aires was affected this morning by blockades of streets and avenues due to the “Green City Race” to Plaza de Mayo, within the framework of the closing activities of the World Summit of Mayors of C40.
The seventh edition of the race consists of two different circuits of 5 kilometers each, which start from an exit located in the Historic Center and end at different goals.
The green circuit starts at Av. de Mayo and Perú, continues through Bolívar, Av. Rivadavia, Av. Leandro N. Alem, Av. Córdoba, Av. Carlos Pellegrini and Av. Presidente Roque Sáenz Peña (Diagonal Norte) until Av. Rivadavia , where it ends.
For its part, the black circuit also starts at Av. de Mayo and Perú, but continues along Av. Hipólito Yrigoyen, Av. Paseo Colón, Av. Independencia, Bernardo de Irigoyen, Carlos Calvo, Av. 9 de Julio, Hipólito Yrigoyen, Bernardo de Irigoyen and Av. Julio A. Roca (Diagonal Sur), where it ends.
Two teams participate in the event: one green that represents recyclable waste and the other black that represents waste that is discarded as garbage.
