The first Specialization in Educational Technology of the Technological University of Uruguay (UTEC) seeks to promote digital skills in teachers and teaching professionals so that they can develop experiences in comprehensive learning environments. The training will last one year, will be free of charge and will begin in October, with 30 places for teachers from the northern region of the country. 324 applicants registered.
With this course, the first of its kind developed by the institution, the aim is to generate skills for teachers to develop teaching and learning experiences, with digital technology at the disposal of the pedagogical and didactic strategy, explained the director of the Digital Transformation Center of the UTEC, Juan Marrero, in dialogue with the Presidential Communication.
He reported that it is aimed at graduates who work in primary, secondary, tertiary or university education institutions, or graduates of tertiary or university careers in the educational field, with 4 years of experience as teachers.
The training instance originated in the design process of the UTEC Strategic Plan 2021-2025, in which educational institutions of different levels participated. “There we identified a possibility and a need at the national level to have a specialization in educational technologies that would share the learning accumulated by the university in these nine years of work,” he said.
He added that those who complete the training will be able to design learning experiences that place technology at the service of educational goals and needs. In this way, it will be possible to provide teaching with a hybrid modality, he specified.
The specialization addresses different thematic axes, such as digital learning environments, in which work will be done on the design of teaching proposals for platforms, contemplating consolidated and emerging educational technologies; the design of learning experiences, which will include the analysis and management of digital tools for the creation of resources and educational paths; technology and skills development, and learning assessment.
It also includes instruction in data analytics to track students with information generated through the use of digital tools. Presidency
