More than 16,000 schoolchildren from 14 regions learned to value sanitation services

More than 16,000 primary and secondary schoolchildren from more than 100 schools in 14 regions of the country learned about the proper use of water resources and the assessment of sanitation services, through the national initiative of health education Water Classes, which promotes the Technical Body of the Sanitation Services Administration (Otass) and the sanitation providers (EPS).

With the signing of an inter-institutional cooperation agreement between Otass and Sedapar, the agency handed over to the Arequipa company this innovative educational proposal that helps train responsible citizens and agents of change willing to practice and spread a true water culture.

With this alliance with the municipal shareholding company, Arequipa becomes the 14th region in which students are taught good habits and the responsible use of basic services. “We are pleased that SEDAPAR is the EPS number 21 to implement this initiative that will benefit Arequipa schoolchildren, as it will allow them to learn how to take care of drinking water and sewage, through 9 educational videos, specially prepared by Otass, with them in mind. , and whose main character is Gotón”, affirmed the executive director of the entity, Héctor Barreda Domínguez.

Aquaprotectors: future responsible citizens

It is important to value the work carried out by the specialists of 19 EPS, from Cañete, Huaral, Bagua, Pucallpa, Ica, Pisco, Chincha, Barranca, Piura, Ilo, Marañón, Moyobamba, Moquegua, Tacna, Chiclayo, Utcubamba, Huánuco and Iquitos, and the Agua Tumbes Executing Unit, who go to schools teaching boys and girls, adolescents and young people, to become true aquaprotectors, in charge of replicating the messages of appreciation of sanitation services in their homes and among their friends and relatives.

The agreement signing ceremony, headed by the executive director of Otass, Héctor Barreda Domínguez, was held at the IE Independencia Americana, one of the most emblematic schools in the White City, which has more than 600 students.

Participating in the event were Maylen Concha Medina, an education specialist from the Regional Education Management, the president of the board of directors and the general manager of Sedapar, Armando Llaza Loayza and Carlos Monje Vera, respectively, among other local authorities.
