More than 136 thousand students and former students joined the renegotiation of debts from the Student Financing Fund (Fies) in nine months of special installments, announced today (9) the Caixa Econômica Federal. instituted by Provisional Measure (MP) 1,090published on December 30 of last year, the special renegotiation allows the installment or settlement of the outstanding balance of Fies with discounts that can reach 99%.

The renegotiation can be requested until December 31 of this year and will follow the rules of Resolution 51/2022published in July and which allows the payment of debts in installments with discounts from 12% to 99%, depending on the delay time.

Application

To facilitate the renegotiation, Caixa launched, on the 1st, the Fies Caixa app, which allows the refinancing of overdue installments. In about 10 days, the channel granted R$395 million, with an average debt of R$38,000 per contract.

According to the bank, 87% of students and alumni chose to settle the balance due. In addition to joining the renegotiation, the customer can perform simulations and generate payment slips.

According to Caixa, up to 1.2 million customers will be able to renegotiate Fies debts through the application. In addition to the application, agreements can be signed on the Fies website.
