More than 10 people are arrested for theft of CSS supplies


On September 8, 2021, the first phase of this operation was carried out, where a network dedicated to the sale of CSS supplies and medicines was dismantled. In this case, charges were charged against 10 people who are provisionally detained.

At least 11 people were apprehended during the operation “II phase of the “Insumos” operation, which took place this Thursday morning, in Panama and West Panama.

The First Prosecutor against Organized Crime, Emeldo Márquez, explained that among the detainees there are officials from the Social Security Fund (CSS), who after stealing medical supplies from the institution, marketed them, according to the investigation for the crime of embezzlement and illicit association carried out by the Superior Prosecutor’s Office Against Organized Crime.

Officials of the First Superior Prosecutor’s Office against Organized Crime in conjunction with the National Police, have so far carried out 14 raids on various homes, where medicines and other medical supplies from the CSS have been seized.
