When Donald Trump arrived at the White House, he set himself the goal of promoting a civil war in Venezuela, with the sole objective of getting hold of the country’s oil.
The plan was recounted by John Bolton, former National Security Advisor of the United States (USA), in his book “The room where it happened”. Later, it was confirmed by Mark Esper, former Secretary of Defense of the nation, also a book he wrote.
“We do not care at all (for the US). They say that they would not sacrifice the lives of US troops, but only in case the security of the US is in danger, and we do not consider Venezuela as a threat.” . Meanwhile, let them kill each other, civil war, let them kill each other, we starve them, anything goes, except our troops,” warned the representative of Venezuela to the United Nations (UN), Samuel Moncada, as revealed by Bolton.
These statements were made by Moncada in front of the deputies of the National Assembly (AN), after the Parliament approved – on May 17 – the creation of a special commission to investigate the assassination and invasion plan confessed by Mark Esper, former US Secretary of Defense.
For this reason, and before Parliament, Moncada revealed that in the books of US officials there was evidence of a plot of attacks and attacks against the Republic, in order to seize oil.
“Trump said he would do this for oil. Trump rescued the Monroe doctrine, where he says that the entire continent belongs to the United States, so Trump pointed out that we go there (in Venezuela) it is for oil, I want those oil fields, Venezuela belongs to us, and that oil is ours », asserted Moncada who stated that this information was revealed both in Bolton’s book and in Esper’s.
One of the points they took as key, Moncada denounced, was the assassination attempt against President Maduro in August 2018, in an act to commemorate the 81st anniversary of the creation of the Bolivarian National Guard.
While President Maduro was giving his speech – on national television – there was a loud explosion due to the detonation of several “drones” loaded with C-4 explosives.
At that moment, Moncada explained, the presidential activity was seen from the United States and they began to make fun of the officials.
“They made the decision to do it, and that’s where the planning began to overthrow the government, the president, the republic. This is not something of the government, this was against the Republic », he stressed.
“The Venezuelan opposition approached the US in December 2018 to ask for help. And since December they agreed with Colombia, Brazil, Canada, Chile”, and other countries, to be able to create the stage for the overthrow.

Planning and “loyalty” to the US
After the visit of the Venezuelan right to the White House, plans began to be organized to overthrow the National Government.
The first – Moncada pointed out – was the self-proclamation of Juan Guaidó as “interim president”, a fact that was registered in January 2020.

“Trump literally asked, I ask that Guaidó declare his exclusive loyalty to him. the United States and that those oil contracts are only for the United States,” Moncada warned.
At that time, Trump announced the freezing of Venezuelan accounts abroad, the appropriation of the Citgo company, the blocking of our international reserves and asked the world to recognize Guaidó as the supposed “president” and to ignore President Nicolás Maduro.
Bolton also played his role and urged the Venezuelan military to give their support to Guaidó.

When they saw that it was not working, they devised a new plan: the civil war and for this, they counted on the coercive and unilateral measures imposed against Venezuela, and the theft of assets abroad.
«The period 2018-2022 they tried to kill us by hunger, by disease, by blockade (…) The idea was to starve ourselves, and we, like locked up rats, would kill each other. This, with the aim of – through alleged humanitarian aid – “saving us”, Moncada asserted during his participation before the AN.
Colombians got cold feet
With the support of several Latin American countries such as Colombia, Chile, Paraguay and the Organization of American States (OAS), the plans for February 23 were designed.
That day, in addition to looking for a civil war in the country, they had hundreds of mercenaries ready at the border willing to enter Venezuela and if they failed, they had planned the possibility that Colombia would invade Venezuela.
“Plan B was for Colombia to invade Venezuela. They had uniformed Colombian troops, but unfortunately that plan did not work,” Moncada stressed, referring to Bolton’s book, in which he noted that “Colombians’ feet got cold, they lacked the nerve to enter.”
