Mob attacks anti-drug officers who were carrying out operations in the Cochabambino tropics

A delegation of anti-drug agents what they did operational in the Tropics of Cochabamba, ended up being attacked by a mob of people who sought to stop the operation. Two vehicles damaged and one officer injured, was the result of attacks committed by community members on a local road in the municipality of Puerto Villarroel, in Cochabamba.

The Vice Minister of Social Defense and Controlled Substances, Jaime Mamani, reported at a press conference that people linked to illicit drug trafficking activities, They were the ones who violently attacked the Umopar (Rural Mobile Patrol Unit) agents.

“We repudiate the fact that people linked to drug trafficking, in different operations, attack the members of the Special Force to Fight Drug Trafficking (Felcn). This morning, at 1:00, in a routine job that members of the Umopar-Chimoré, were brutally attacked in Puerto Villarroel,” said Mamani.

On the local road to the town of Vueltadero, it was the place where approximately 100 people attacked the anti-drug agents, with sticks, machetes and even firearms.

“There are two damaged vehicles, these people began to attack the troops and as a result of that there is a damaged vehicle. Furthermore, according to preliminary information, in the struggle, a person in civilian clothes was wounded by a gunshot”, the vice minister reported.
