“The MSMEs They contribute 38 percent of the Gross Domestic Product, generate more than a third of formal employment and, added to the informal ones, employ more than two million people who day after day rise up to build a better Dominican Republic”, said Bisonó in an activity celebrated for the International Day of MSMEsan event that was headed by the Vice President of the Republic, Raquel Peñas.
Minister Bisonó recognized the work of the MSMEs and said that they represent 98 percent of the Dominican business fabric.
the owner of the MICM assured that from August 2020 to date a total of 22,782 have been formalized MSMEs. He also revealed that they have delivered 21,568 certifications MSMEs during the same period.
“For each microenterprise there are around two workers; and for each small and medium-sized company in the country around 28 people employed. Undoubtedly, these figures tell us that our MSMEs they are synonymous with social welfare and economic growth, as the international monetary fund has just pointed out in its latest report this week,” the official said.
He stressed that, since August 2020, the intention to formalize the MSMEs has increased by 87 percent by receiving 33,155 registrations of new applications through the portal, of which a total of 22,782 new companies have been formalized.
“This fills us with pride, because our MSMEs They are assuming, together with us, the commitment to promote decent work, the generation of quality jobs and sustainable economic growth,” he said.
In the activity, Vice President Raquel Peña pointed out that from August 2020 to May 2022, more than 13 billion pesos in loans have been delivered through the National Council for the Promotion and Support of Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (Promipyme ).
