The Ministry of Health (Minsa), in its incidence report on COVID-19, continues to reflect a drop in its figures for coronavirus infections in Nicaragua with three positive cases less than the previous week, where it reported 45 infected patients.
The health institution reports that between April 26 and May 3, 2022 there were 42 Nicaraguans infected by coronavirus and one deceased in seven days.
The Minsa registers in its official statistics an amount of 235 deceased since the beginning of the pandemic, reporting one death per week due to the virus since October 2020, a number that did not change even in the midst of the last and largest wave of the virus in the Central American country.

According to statistics from the Minsa in Nicaragua, released by Vice President Rosario Murillo, vaccination against COVID-19 in the country would reach 90% of the population (73% with a complete scheme and 16.97% with one dose), but these figures are different. to those disclosed by the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) on its website.
PAHO, on its web portal, records as of April 29 that Nicaragua has vaccinated the 69.7 % of the population, a lower number than the dictatorship’s spokeswoman spread in her propaganda media.
The agency details that the Minsa has applied a total of 10 million 377 thousand 431 doses between first and second doses against COVID-19. Of that total of vaccines, 5 million 706 thousand 494 Nicaraguans have been immunized with the first dose and of those more than 5 million a second dose has been applied to 4 million 670 thousand 937 of the population two years of age and older, the age to apply biological ones.
Since the pandemic began, Nicaragua has not applied restrictive measures as part of the fight against the coronavirus, which has earned it criticism from the World Health Organization (WHO).
