n the final part of his speech In Paraíso, Tabasco, before workers from the companies involved in the construction of the Dos Bocas refinery, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador turned Sunday’s Labor Day into a futuristic baseball allegory.

Undisputed manager of the team called Cuarta Transformación (4T), the first Tabascan in the country boasted the roster available (the player squad): We have about five starting pitchers, women and men, and about ten closers, women and men, and they all throw more than a hundred miles, pure fastball.

There is no doubt about the identity of three of the starting pitchers: one of them, Adán Augusto López Hernández, Secretary of the Interior, was in the same act in Tabasco, as real president that in fact he continues to be (Carlos Manuel Merino has always been his substitute); Claudia Sheinbaum, somewhat confused by the vigorous appearance of the aforementioned AA, who punctured the balloon of the appearance of being Palacio’s favorite (which is not necessarily bad for the governor; it helps her not always to be in the lead) and Marcelo Ebrard, who on the same Sunday confirmed his inclusion among the uncovered when going to campaign in Hidalgo, in the framework of the state election, and enthusiastically chanting the refrain that rhymes honor with Obrador.

Who would be the other two? openers? There does not seem to be a good mood in the National Palace for Senator Ricardo Monreal or for federal deputy Gerardo Fernández Noroña. There are those who look towards the Secretaries of the Economy, Tatiana Clouthier, and of Energy, Rocío Nahle. In the category of governors, outside of Mexico City, there does not seem to be anyone likely to enter the starting squad that perhaps, which in politics does not have to be an aberration, could end up being a quintet of three.

Regarding the ten closers it must be said how difficult it seems to openers their arm gets tired and they stop throwing fastballs and bows. The real risk would be that some of the stellar players (Marcelo, above all, but also Monreal, although he seems out of the picture from now on), did not like the final decision of the manager from Tabasco and immediately moved to another team. Then the game would get close and it would not necessarily end in beatingas Andrés Manuel himself predicted.

Meanwhile, the member parties of Va por México (National Action, Institutional Revolutionary and what remains of the Democratic Revolution) assured yesterday at a press conference that they will continue to be promoted by the civil society (SC). Until now, the representation of that SC has been rather business and personal: Claudio X. González Guajardo has served as ideologue and cohesive of the three parties whose formal leaders and plans for 2024 seem particularly disoriented without the support of Mr. X.

Business tripartism expressed resounding rejection of the electoral reform initiative presented by President López Obrador and gave full support to the National Electoral Institute in its current formulation. It was announced that each party will present its own counterproposal for electoral reform, but with agreement on six basic points, among them, that there be the possibility of a second round in the presidential election, eliminate overrepresentation in the chambers and annul processes in which organized crime intervenes. .

The proposal to hold primary elections in each of the parties to nominate presidential candidates stands out. It is a loophole that could be of interest to Ricardo Monreal in the event that his possible application does not advance in Morena. The man from Zacatecas has long proposed holding this type of primary election, with an eye on his current party. But, in that case…

And, while for the fourth time the judicial hearing to establish responsibilities for the fall of a section of Line 12 of the capital’s Metro, a year ago, has been postponed until tomorrow!
