Minsa includes an Afro-descendant variable in all its health facilities

Within the framework of Africa Day, today May 25, the Ministry of Health promulgates Resolution No. 347 of May 24, 2023, which establishes the registry of the Afro-descendant variable, in all Ministry of Health facilities that use the electronic health information system (SEIS).

This resolution is the product of joint work between the National Secretariat for the Development of Afro-Panamanians, the Pan American Health Organization and the Ministry of Health.

Likewise, this important document begins a series of actions in favor of the Afro-descendant population in Panama, specifically in health issues.

In this historic event, representing the Ministry of Health, were Dr. Cirilo Lawson and Dr. Félix Correa, Dr. Ana Rivière Cinnamond – PAHO/WHO Panama Representative, Dr. Leah-Mari Richards – Systems Advisor and Health Services – PAHO/WHO, Licdo. Samuel Samuels Director of Ethnic Groups – Mayor of Panama, Licda. Edith Castillo- National Representative in Panama of the United Nations Population Fund, representatives of organizations and the Afro-Panamanian social movement.
